What is phototherapy or light therapy?

LED’s provide a mechanism for Low-Level Light Therapy (LLLT) or
“Photo Bio-stimulation” – also called ‘Phototherapy’. The effects of Phototherapy
and LLLT are photochemical. When the correct intensity and frequency are used,
the light energy photons, generated by the LED light sources, are absorbed by
select chromophores in the tissue. This process stimulates mitochondrial
activity and Adenosine Triphosphate (ATP) production; promotes blood
circulation and tissue oxygenation, leading to pain relief and cell
proliferation, and facilitating the creation and extension of the anti-aging
enzymes. Low Level Laser Therapy (LLLT) of the correct wavelength , irradiance,
energy density dissociates Nitric Oxide allowing oxygen back into the cell, so
ATP is restored and oxidative stress reduced. Once normal mitochondrial
function is restored by LLLT then cell metabolism improves, and the cells
normal function is restored.

What are the main differences between the Cloud-S White LED Mask and the 7 Colors Gold LED Mask?

The 7 Colors Gold LED Mask is an older model in our product lineup and does not include near-infrared light functionality. On the other hand, the Cloud-S White LED Mask offers the most crucial wavelengths: 630nm red light, 820nm near-infrared light, and 465nm blue light. Moreover, the Cloud-S White LED Mask has a higher light power density, providing more effective results.

What are wavelength, irradiance, and energy density?

The wavelength of light is defined as "the distance between the two successive crests or troughs of the light wave". Therefore, the distance between one crest or trough of one wave and the next wave is known as the wavelength. Because LLLT works by delivering wavelengths of light into our skin where it is absorbed by our cells, its effectiveness is closely connected with the amount of light reaching the target tissue. Wavelengths are often referred to using their associated color and typically include purple/blue (400-495 nm), green (495-570 nm), yellow (570-590 nm), orange (590-620 nm), red (620-750 nm), and near-infrared (750-1200 nm) lights. All tissue targets have an optimum wavelength at which they absorb light. Different tissue targets trigger different biological processes.

Optical power density can be understood as the energy that light can transmit per unit area, in units of W/m² or mW/cm². Human cells respond to light with a biphasic effect, which means that neither too low nor too high energies can achieve the results we expect. A higher irradiance often means a shorter treatment time, but a higher irradiance isn’t always better. If the irradiance is too high, the photon energy will be transformed into excessive heat in the target tissue; the mask may become hot and can inhibit the treatment or even create undesired outcomes. GYH experts recommend choosing products whose irradiance is about 30mW/cm².

Energy density is measured in joules per square centimeter (J/cm²) and is the amount of energy delivered into the tissue. Dose (J/cm²) = Irradiance (mW/cm²) x Time (seconds).

How Does LED Light Therapy Improve Skin Texture and Reduce Wrinkles?

Light therapy products use LEDs (light-emitting diodes) to emit light at specific wavelengths based on the effects those wavelengths have on the body. The best light frequencies for reversing signs of aging are red and infrared, falling between 600 and 880 nanometers. These types of light used in anti-aging therapy have multiple wavelengths that enable safe penetration below the skin's surface, interacting with skin cells. The light energizes skin cells' mitochondria, resulting in greater output from the mitochondria to other parts of the cell. Cells become stronger and reproduce faster after red light therapy, leading to improved skin texture and reduced wrinkles.

Why combine Red and Infrared Light Therapy?

These two types of lights, when used in tandem, are a powerful combination. For anti-aging light therapy devices, the most effective solutions will nearly always be designed with a combination of red and infrared lights. Wrinkle reduction devices that contain solely red LEDs are not as effective at reducing signs of aging or improving the skin's overall texture and complexion. And when it comes to light therapy devices designed for pain relief, most are also designed with a combination of red and infrared lights.

Can long-term LED phototherapy cause skin photoaging?

Absolutely not! In fact, skin photoaging is mainly caused by certain bands of ultraviolet light, UV-B (290-320 nm) and UV-A (320-400 nm), which may damage the skin by promoting collagen breakdown, free radical formation, interfering with DNA breakdown, and suppressing the immune system. The GYH phototherapy mask filters out ultraviolet light and other harmful wavelengths, leaving only 630±5nm red light, 820±5nm near-infrared light, and 465±5nm blue light. These lights are not only harmless but also have many benefits, such as improving sleep quality.

Why is the blue light at 465nm instead of 415nm?

The 415nm wavelength is closer to the ultraviolet range (300-400nm), making it more likely to cause pigmentation issues. Therefore, we chose to use the 465nm blue light wavelength. Clinical tests have shown that the 465nm wavelength is equally effective and safer to use.

Does the number of lamp beads matter?

Just as a flock of sheep can't compare to a lion, more bulbs don't mean a more powerful mask. The light power density (irradiance) of the lamp beads plays a more critical role. The high-quality lamp beads imported from Germany used by GYH can reach the irradiance value of 30mW/cm² with only 40 pieces to achieve the best effect. Most of the products on the market that are less than two hundred dollars have an irradiance value of less than 5mW/cm², although their number of lamp beads may exceed one hundred.

Will the light burn the skin?

LED cold light uses photochemical action to rebuild collagen, diminish fine lines, improve skin elasticity, promote wound repair, and reduce inflammation. It will not generate high heat or burn the skin.

Will the cable-free design with built-in battery cause problems with frequent charging?

The product features a 1000 mAh lithium battery, which can provide up to 2 hours of use when fully charged. With an average skin care time of 10 minutes per session, it can be used for 10-12 sessions before needing to be recharged. When not in use, it can last up to 60 days on a single charge. Therefore, there should be no issue with frequent charging.

So a while back my dermatologist recommended doing light therapy that it might be beneficial for my skin. The problem was I travel a LOT for work and wasn't able to do in office led. She gave me recommendations on what to look for to buy and this one fit the bill. I've been using for months now and I genuinely believe it has helping my skin. I'm normally crazy skeptical about these things but on this I believe it works. It fits nicely and it charges fast and keeps a charge very well.

EDIT: I said I would update in 3 month’s so here it is… I’ve added another photo to show you. It’s been a while since I’ve had so many compliments on a night out where people thought I was in my 40’s yet I’m nearly 60! My skin looks more glowing and the lines have definitely softened. I used both of the red light settings.

This mask arrived extremely well presented so would make for an ideal postal gift. It looks and feels quality. As with a lot of these types of products it feels daunting opening the pack just in case it’s complicated but not with this! The parts are simple. You get the mask, a remote control (battery included) a charging cable and easy to read instruction booklets.

Remove the battery protection plastic to activate the remote control. Plug the mask in to charge. The charge port is under the top strap and sit down and read the instructions. This pack also includes a large velvet drawstring pouch if keeping the box is too bulky for you. Basically the mask has 4 light treatment’s. In order on the remote control =

1/ Red (Bright red light)= Aging skin/firming/wrinkles

2/ NIR = (Near-infrared Light) Promoting collagen. Also Red (Pale red light)

3/ Blue = Acne

4/ NIR + Red = Both treatments at the same time. (As above)

Press one big button on the remote control to click through the 4 settings.

When charging the light flashes red. When charged it turns green.
Once charged all you do is turn the mask on. (Button on the front of the mask) Adjust the straps for a good fit for your head, put on and use the remote to click on the setting you require.

It takes about 4 weeks for noticeable results to start showing.

Use on a clean face.
Make sure eye pads and head bands are comfortably tightly sealed to prevent light shining into your eyes.

A couple of examples for daily usage recommendations =

Wrinkles & collagen = Red light + NIC. 10 mins. Results 8-10 weeks.

Acne = Blue light 10 mins day 1. Red & blue day 2. Alternate between the two lights for results in 2-4 weeks.

Please refer to the instruction manual for more combinations for different skin conditions.

This is a long term commitment of using it daily, for only 10 mins though and due to the mask being wire free you can carry on with your day or sit down and have a relaxing treatment.

It turns off automatically after 10 mins so no clock watching. As a glasses wearer I found the display of the remote control very faint to read so had to learn the sequence the lights were in or check with glasses on before use.
You can watch tv and see clearly when in use. It’s not claustrophobic. It didn’t get too hot. The forehead and chin components are the hardest on the face so spend some time getting the straps just right.

This is the first time I've ever posted a picture but seeing is believing. I've had my mask about 6 weeks. I use it 20 minutes about 4 times a week!If you weren't sure if it works just look at my pictures. I could tell my skin texture changed but I really saw the difference when I compared the pictures.I've been on a weight loss journey and I knew I had loss some of my elasticity in my skin. WORTH EVERY PENNY!

One of the best light therapy masks I've used

I've used multiple red light therapy devices over the past year, and this one stands out from the rest. First, it is much more powerful. Most light therapy devices don't even list irradiance levels, likely because the levels are too low to effect any real therapeutic changes . This unit has an irradiance listing of 30 mW/cm2, which is within the range for skin rejuvenation, but isn't quite dense enough for deep tissue regeneration or fat loss purposes. Since it is more powerful than many devices, it requires less time to cause effect. My skincare routine has been more efficient.The design of the mask keeps the LEDs close to the skin while minimizing the surface that actually comes in contact with skin to the bridge of the nose and eye area and the chin. This is more sanitary than other masks I've used. It is fairly comfortable, though I do find it a bit difficult to breathe while wearing it. One of my favorite features of this is the remote control. I love that I don't have to deal with any cords whatsoever while wearing this. It allows me to move around and work, though my vision is a bit obstructed, so I have to be careful. On the flip side, if I lose the remote, there is no way to control the mask.Another thing I love about this is that it has a USB-C rechargeable battery (power block is not included). The battery lasts about a week and quickly recharges.I also like that this unit only uses red, near-infrared and blue light wavelengths, which are the ones which I most often select for therapy on my other devices. I don't have to cycle through a rainbow of colors before I get to the ones I know will actually work on my skin.One of the things I like least about this is that the remote only allows a ten minute session after which the device automatically powers off. I would prefer to be able to set my time. Most devices provide options in increments if five minutes from five to thirty minutes. I usually just add an additional cycle to my therapy time, increasing it from ten to twenty minutes.I'm excited to use this and to see if/how it helps my skin over time. The device itself is well-made and comfortable. I'm grateful for the opportunity to use it.

Can see diference on my skin after 2 weeks

I have never used a light therapy mask before. So this is my 1st time and so far Ihave very positive experience. I really like it is very light, easy to use, also mask is rechargeable and has remote control. By the way user manual is really good one, with very detailed information. I can not say anything I don't like.My skin is combi oily and sometimes still have acne, it is really annoying, because I have try so many things, but still have it. So it is very easy to use it, after charging - when you switch on it is connecting to remote control. It is possible to choose red or blue light. I am using both light, but prefer more blue light for my acne. I am trying to use every second day in the evening. While I am using this mask, I don't feel anything. My skin is very sensitive, but I am happy no any redness or other signs of allergy. I have noticed some really visible results after 2 weeks only, but I hope in few months I will forget about acne at all.Highly recommend it!
